SAA event in Arunachel Pradesh, Tissing near Zedua village, Longding District area, India on Fri 20th February 2026

On February 20, Security Forces (SFs) thwarted a major terror plot and arrested an active cadre of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM)identified as ‘captain’ Ponglem Wangpan (35), during a joint operation at Tissing near Zedua village under Longding Police Station in Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh, reports Northeast Now. The operation was carried out by Assam Rifles, Special Task Force (STF) and Longding Police. SFs recovered one 5.56 mm INSAS rifle, one 9 mm pistol, one INSAS magazine, one pistol magazine, 18 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition and two 9 mm rounds. According to officials, Wangpan was leading a four-member team that had come to abduct or kill an undisclosed target.
