SAA event in Punjab, Sheron, Tarn Taran District area, India on Thu 19th February 2026
19th February 2026
On February 19, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sarpanch (head of the Panchayat, village-level local self-Government institution), Harbarinder Singh (40), was shot dead and his relative Jermandeep Singh injured when two assailants opened fire during a wedding ceremony at Sheron village in Tarn Taran District of Punjab, reports The Tribune. The attackers fled after the incident, which triggered panic among local residents and politicians. Officials suspect personal enmity as the motive. The deceased is survived by two sons and was an agriculturalist and commission agent. This is the second attack on an AAP sarpanch in as many months; on January 5, Jarmal Singh of Valtoha Sandhua village was similarly killed during a wedding in Amritsar.
