On March 2, at least two Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) supporters were killed, identified as Mohammad Ismail Hossain and Mohammad Abdus Salam, and 10 others were injured in a clash between local BNP and Awami League groups over controlling a government-owned pond in Raiganj Upazila (Sub-District) of Sirajganj District, reports The Daily Star. Saiful Islam Khan, Additional Superintendent of Sirajganj Police, stated that there has been a longstanding rivalry between the supporters of local BNP leader Abu Bakkar Siddique and Awami League leader Asmat Ali over fish farming in a khas (government-owned) pond in Goyalpara Village.
