Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Gothenburg, Kvillebäcken area, Sweden on Thu 5th March 2026

An explosion has occurred at a residence in Kvillebäcken in Gothenburg. Residents alerted the police to a loud bang late Thursday evening. The National Bomb Protection Service was called to the scene.

It was just before midnight that the police and emergency services were alerted to a loud bang, something Göteborgs-Posten was first to report.

Once on site, it was determined that something had exploded next to a residence, causing material damage. No one was reported to have been injured.

The bomb squad was called to the scene.

The area was cordoned off for technical examination, and the national bomb disposal unit was called to the scene.

– We cannot comment on what they came up with at the moment, they have to analyze the material they have found, says Christian Brattgård, press spokesperson for the police.

No one arrested

The police are carrying out investigative measures during the day, including door knocking, but the blockades at the scene were lifted on Friday morning.

The incident is being investigated as public danger and a violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods.

No one is currently in custody.
