A shootout broke out in Kanyin Myaing village, Mogaung Township, Kachin State, between a Shanni militia group and a fugitive former militia member during a dispute over a drug debt, resulting in the death of the fugitive, a local source told Khit Thit Media.

The incident began around 6:30 AM on February 22 when Win Bo, a former militia member, attempted to collect money from certain SNA militia members who had been buying drugs from him on credit. Resenting the debt collection, SNA members surrounded Win Bo’s house to arrest him. Win Bo reportedly initiated the clash by attacking the SNA group with a hand grenade, leading to an exchange of fire.
