SAA event in Sagaing Region, Monywa Township area, Myanmar on Sat 21st February 2026

A driver was killed after the terrorist military opened fire on a passenger bus that took a wrong turn in front of Thazi Prison in Monywa, Sagaing Region, an official from a Monywa-based volunteer group told Khit Thit Media.

On the night of February 21, a passenger bus traveling the Bhamo-Monywa route with four passengers and two drivers on board accidentally entered the wrong way from Thamone Kone junction toward Pauk Nge Taw, traveling north to south, in front of Thazi Prison in Monywa. It is reported that the terrorist military opened fire while the vehicle was entering.

During the shooting, the driver of the passenger bus was hit by bullets and died on the spot. Soldiers also smashed the vehicle's windows with rifle butts. The deceased driver was reportedly from Salingyi Township.
