On 20 February 2026, in the northeast of Hpasawng town (Hpasawng township, Bawlake district, Kayah state), the Myanmar military claimed that a combined force of the Karenni Army, the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force, and the People's Defense Force detonated the Pun Chaung Bridge, a reinforced concrete bridge located on the Wan Aung-Chi Kwe-Saunglo road, using mines at about 4:30 pm. The explosion caused the collapse of a 65-foot section of the bridge piers. Casualties unknown.
