On 20 February 2026, SPLM/A-IO members alongside 'White Army' (Nuer ethnic militia) attacked an SSPDF base, resulting in clashes in the Ulang area of Ulang Payam (Ulang County, Upper Nile State). There were 3 fatalities and an unspecified number of injuries. SSPDF forces repelled the opposition members, but the latter seized a market area and looted NGO compounds before they withdrew.
