On 19 February 2026, in the morning, a Malian army patrol killed 2 gum arabic collectors on the outskirts of Fegui (Fegui, Kayes, Kayes). When the soldiers arrived in the area, the victims attempted to hide in the bushes. In response, the soldiers set fire to the vegetation and opened fire on them. Additionally, the right hand of one of the collectors was severed before the soldiers withdrew.
