On 19 February 2026, near Liucura Alto (Nuble), unidentified individuals ambushed workers for the Charrua Electric Cooperative (Coelcha) in the La Plaza area after they were forced to a stop by a tree felled by the perpetrators. The perpetrators shot at the workers before fleeing. The victims were taking payments in the area. Motive unknown, although Indigenous militias sometimes ambush workers in the neighboring Biobio and Araucania regions as part of territorial claims. There were no casualties.
