On 19 February 2026, police forces from the Drug Control Directorate clashed with a drug dealer near the 40 km area in Al Basrah province (location unknown, coded as Basrah city, Al Basrah) during an arrest attempt. The dealer opened fire, and police forces returned fire. One of the officers was injured. The dealer fled the scene. Inside his car, police forces found 1.25 kg of unspecified drugs. Police launched a manhunt. 1 injured. There were no fatalities.
