On 18 February 2026, unidentified armed individuals clashed with a mixed patrol of Chadian defense and security forces (GNNT and Gendarmerie) between Faya Largeau and Kouba Olanga, coded to Tchie (Borkou, Borkou), a midpoint between the two locations. Some sources mentioned the death of 4 GNNT officers. Other sources reported 6 fatalities, including three civilians and three defense and security personnel. International medias specified the death of 4 defense and security officers as well as 3 unidentified armed individuals. The clash followed the attack of unidentified armed individuals against civilians in the same area, the day before (coded separately). Fatalities coded as 4, as per the lowest estimate available.
