On 18 February 2026, in Mossoro (Rio Grande do Norte), around eight unidentified armed suspects shot and killed a man in the Barrocas neighborhood. The suspects broke into the victim's house and fired over 30 times against him, escaping afterwards. The target of the attack was the victim's son, who was wearing an electronic monitoring anklet (charges unspecified) and managed to escape from the perpetrators. Other family members were in the house but they were not harmed. The authorship and motivations are unknown. 1 fatality.
