On 17 February 2026, state security forces (likely the ENDF, Benishangul-Gumuz State Police, and Kebele militia from the location and past events) clashed with OLF-OLA in Gocher Kebele (Wenbera, Metekel, Benshangul/Gumuz), leading to the killing of 2 civilians and an unspecified number of security forces. The clash led to the pillage of civilian properties and the destruction of a clinic. Eyewitnesses accused the OLF-OLA of displacing the Kebele residents from their homes.
