17th February 2026
On 17 February 2026, in Chin Pyit village (Pale township, Yinmarbin district, Sagaing region), the People's Defense Force (under NUG) and the People's Defense Force - Yinmarbin District raided and attacked the outposts of the Burma National Revolutionary Army (BNRA) around 7 am. During the armed clash, the PDF troops fired heavy weapons and conducted drone strikes and dropped bombs. Locals from Chin Pyit, Kyar Si, Poke Par and Maung Ton villages were forced to flee due to armed clashes. The deputy minister of the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration claimed that this was an enforcement action to apprehend criminal perpetrators. According to the Deputy Minister, some members of the BNRA have been allegedly committing offenses against the public since 2022. By 2023, complaints began to emerge involving victims within the NUG's own administrative framework. The alleged crimes include the murder of civilians and public servants, concealment of corpses, arbitrary detention and torture, and even rape. The BNRA troops retreated from the outposts. The PDF troops captured some members of the BNRA. A leader of the BNRA claimed that around 10 members of the BNRA were killed in two locations. 10 fatalities split across two locations (Chin Pyit and Poke Par), and coded as 5 for this event.
