SAA event in Guayas, Guayaquil - Tarqui area, Ecuador on Tue 17th February 2026

On 17 February 2026, in Guayaquil - Tarqui (Guayas), an unknown number of armed assailants in a car shot and killed three people in a drive-by shooting in Las Jirafas park, Mapasingue Oeste. At the first scene, the first two victims were found on the ground. In the second scene, the third fatal victim was found inside a home. An abandoned car with five 5.56mm shell casings and two 9mm shell casings was found. Eight bystanders were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. According to family members, one of the fatal victims had been receiving threats from Los Tiguerones gang members, who likely perpetrated the attack. A mobile taxi driver reported that hours before the attack he was intercepted by two armed individuals on a motorcycle, detained, and later abandoned in the area. No arrests were made.
