SAA event in Guayas, Guayaquil - Tarqui area, Ecuador on Tue 17th February 2026

On 17 February 2026, in Guayaquil - Tarqui (Guayas), three unidentified armed assailants shot and killed a couple in their family home in the Luchadores del Norte 2 housing complex. The perpetrators shot at the male victim first, and his wife, who was sitting next to him, was also shot. Both victims died at the scene, and the perpetrators fled on motorcycles. One person was injured in the attack, and remains in stable condition. None of the victims had a prior criminal record and family members mentioned that the male victim had been previously targeted by robbers for his motorcycle. No arrests were made and the motive remains unknown. 2 fatalities.
