On 17 February 2026, in Bahia de Caraquez (Sucre, Manabi), an unknown number of armed assailants on a motorcycle shot and killed a couple inside their car in a drive-by shooting. One of the victims attempted to flee, but was chased and shot by the perpetrators. Both victims died at the scene. Family members arrived at the scene, and refused to collaborate with authorities. No arrests were made and the motive remains unknown. 2 fatalities.
