On 16 February 2026, TTP militants engaged Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel during a CTD search operation in Kabalgram area in Martung tehsil (Shangla, KPK). The CTD launched the operation after intelligence indicated militants were assembling an explosives-laden vehicle and planning attacks targeting Chinese installations along the Silk Road corridor. Militants opened fire with heavy weapons, triggering an exchange. During the operation, three CTD personnel and three TTP militants, including a senior commander, were killed. One of the militants detonated a suicide vest during the clash. Total 6 fatalities.
