On 16 February 2026, for the second day, South Ethiopia regional riot police and South Ethiopia state police members clashed with an armed actor (likely Zeyse ethnic militia from the location and context) in Zeyise Wezeqa (Arba Minch Zuria Woreda, Gamo, South Ethiopia Region), leading to the killing of 7 persons. According to eyewitnesses, the clash started when the police officers based at Wezeqa health center withdrew from their camp, taking private individuals' properties with them. 7 fatalities split across the two dates, and coded as 3 for this event.
