On 16 February 2026, for the second day, South Ethiopia regional riot police and South Ethiopia state police members clashed with an armed actor (likely Zeyse ethnic militia from the location and context) in Zeyise Demibele (Arba Minch Zuria, Gamo, South Ethiopia Region), leading to the killing of 8 persons. The clash began when the police officers from Gamo zone, who were passing through the village, accused an unidentified person of throwing a stone at a police patrol vehicle. Subsequently, the police forces entered the village and started shooting. 8 fatalities split across the two dates, and coded as 4 for this event.
