On 15 February 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force ambushed and clashed with a Benue militia in Mtan Village in Utange Council Ward, coded to the closest most populated area, Katsina-Ala (Katsina Ala, Benue). The troops recovered 2 motorcycles owned by the bandit kingpin, 8 magazines, 162 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, 10 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition, 44 rounds of 9mm ammunition, links of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, as well as seven empty 7.62mm NATO cartridge casings. The troops also demobilized a vehicle to prevent its further use for criminal activities. There were no casualties.
