On 14 February 2026, in the morning, over a thousand JNIM militants launched an attack on an advanced camp of the Burkinabe special forces from the Rapid Intervention Battalion 21 (BIR 21) and volunteer fighters (VDP) in the town of Titao (Titao, Loroum, Nord). The militants took control of the camp, killing at least 13 soldiers and VDP, and destroying rolling stock and a communication antenna. The militants also targeted the town, killing at least 7 Ghanaian tomato truck drivers and their assistants, attacking the heath center, looting and burning trucks and shops in the market, before engaging in a clash with BIR 21 soldiers in the town. During the attacks, the Burkinabe air force carried out approximately 10 airstrikes against the militants. At least 21 militants were killed (bodies left at the scene) , and weapons, motorcycles, and other items were seized. The Ghanaian Ministry of Interior announced on local radio that 7 tomato traders were killed, saying that the militants stormed the town of Titao, separated the men from the women and opened fire, leading to the deaths of nearly all the men. Additionally, the traders' truck was burned, and four people, including three men and one woman, were injured. JNIM claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it killed dozens of soldiers, seized three military vehicles, machine guns, and other equipment. Several vehicles, including an armored vehicle, were also destroyed. JNIM published photographs of the seized items. 41 (13+7+21) fatalities coded.
