On 14 February 2026, in Convencion (Norte de Santander), an unknown number of unidentified armed individuals carried out an armed attack against the residence of a female community leader and ASOJUNTAS president of Las Mercedes-Guamal-La Vega sector. The perpetrators fired at her home while she was present with her son and family. They had been subjected to threats and pressure from armed groups operating in the Catatumbo region for several weeks prior to the shooting. There were no casualties.
