SAA event in Magway Region, Taungdwingyi Township area, Myanmar on Sat 21st February 2026

Two village administrators in Taungdwingyi Township, Magway Region, were shot and killed after bullying and threatening residents and extorting money under the pretext of the military service law, according to local sources who spoke to Khit Thit Media.

On the afternoon of February 21, an armed group entered the home of San Win, the military-appointed administrator of Nyaung Lay Pin Village in the Hmut Shay Village Tract, and shot him dead on the spot. Residents reported that San Win had been overcharging for electricity and extorting between 30,000 to 100,000 kyats per household for military recruitment funds. He reportedly threatened to have the military burn down the entire village if residents complained to the PDF and threatened to have local youths arrested by accusing them of being PDF informants.
