One person has been arrested and detained after an explosion at a gate in Rågsved in southern Stockholm. No one is reported to have been injured.

– There is damage to the gate and windows, says Lars Lindberg, rescue operator at Greater Stockholm Fire Department.

The police were called to Rågsved early Monday afternoon. A gate to an apartment building has been damaged.

– Several people have called saying they have heard banging on a gate and we are in the process of finding out more, says Carina Skagerlind, police spokesperson.

Person arrested after explosion

A person has been arrested and detained on suspicion of causing public danger, police say. The person was arrested the same day as the explosion.

According to SVT's information, a well-known rapper who has been convicted of several crimes is listed at the address. The motive for the incident is still unclear.

– It is part of our work to look at who could be potential targets when something like this happens, but we cannot say more about it, says Anna Lärk, police spokesperson.

There are currently no reports of injuries. The incident is classified as public danger and the Act on Flammable and Explosive Objects. The National Bomb Protection Unit has been ordered to the scene.

The subway did not stop in Rågsved

According to police, a large number of resources are working to gather information by interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage. The crime scene is no longer cordoned off.

The subway's green line did not stop at Rågsved earlier in the afternoon due to the explosion, but traffic should now be back on track.
