Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Upplands Väsby, Skälby area, Sweden on Sun 22nd February 2026

An explosion occurred at an apartment building in Skälby, Upplands Väsby late on Sunday. No one was reported injured.

It was just before midnight that several people alerted the police that an object had exploded at a gate and that an unknown person had been seen leaving the scene.

The police are on site and can confirm that only material damage has occurred.

– The National Bomb Disposal Service and forensic experts have been called, but we can already draw certain conclusions about what may have detonated, says police spokesman Daniel Wikdahl.

He does not go into further details, but notes that no more dangerous objects have been found.

The incident is classified as serious public destruction. The police cannot comment on whether anyone is in custody at this time.

A moment before the explosion in Skälby, a detonation also occurred in a parking lot in Sollentuna.

Are the two events connected?

– We cannot confirm anything at such an early stage, but we will investigate whether there is any connection, says Daniel Wikdahl.
