SAA event in Skillingaryd area, Sweden on Fri 20th February 2026

Police are investigating a possible shooting in central Skillingaryd late Friday evening after reports of loud bangs. No one is reported to have been injured.

– We have received an alarm from someone who allegedly heard bangs, but the information is unclear, says police spokesperson Olle Älveroth.

At 11:23 p.m., police were called to central Skillingaryd after people in the area heard what they believed were gunshots.

– The police found evidence at the scene that suggests it could absolutely have been a shooting. But at present, a shooting cannot be confirmed, says Olle Äveroth at the police.

The area was cordoned off overnight and technicians will conduct a thorough investigation on site on Saturday.

The police will hold interviews during the day. No one is currently under suspicion or in custody. The incident is being investigated as a serious unlawful threat and a serious weapons offense.
