An explosion occurred at a residence in Tygelsjö outside Malmö on Friday evening. The bomb squad was called to the scene and the police cordoned off the area.

– We receive an alarm about a loud bang. We go there and can confirm that something has banged, says Jakob Palmqvist, press spokesperson for the police.

The alarm was received at 6:28 p.m. on Ambultsgatan in Tygelsjö. The police do not yet know what caused the explosion.

– The National Bomb Protection Unit is here right now and making its assessment. We evacuated those who live closest to the explosion, said Jakob Palmqvist during the evening.

Police also cordoned off about ten houses while they investigated the scene. They also searched for a suspected perpetrator and interviewed witnesses.

At 10 p.m., the police were at the scene and the blockades were lifted.

No people were reported to have been injured.
