Missile event in Kuwait on Sat 28th February 2026

Kuwait's Civil Aviation Authority announced that a drone targeted Kuwait International Airport on Saturday, resulting in minor injuries to a number of employees and limited material damage to the passenger terminal (T1). The Kuwait News Agency reported that the Iranian missile attacks disrupted air traffic, with all departing and arriving flights to and from the airport being postponed following the security developments.

This targeting comes at a time when Iran has continued to launch attacks on US bases in the region, while an Al Jazeera correspondent reported earlier that there were interceptions of missiles in the skies of Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti Interior Ministry confirmed that missiles were intercepted in the northern desert areas of the country without any injuries being reported, while the US Embassy in Kuwait instructed its staff to take shelter where they were.

In an official statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed "the full right of the State of Kuwait to defend itself under the Charter of the United Nations ," asserting that "the Iranian attack constitutes a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and airspace, and of international law and the Charter of the United Nations."
