On 13 February 2026, in Proteccion, Santa Barbara, agents from the Directorate of Police Investigation (DPI) clashed with the suspect of a killing linked to drug trafficking in the La Tendida community. The suspect opened fire on police with a rifle and pistol during an operation to apprehend him. Police returned fire and shot and killed the suspect. One officer was hit in the chest but was saved by a bulletproof vest. 1 fatality.
