On 12 February 2026, in Hpakant town (Hpakant township, Mohnyin district, Kachin state), a Christian pastor from a Baptist Church in Hmaw Wan ward stepped on a landmine planted by the Myanmar military while walking along the Hmaw Wan-Yae Aye road at about 9 am. He sustained injuries and was taken to the Hpakant hospital.
