On 11 February 2026, Syrian police ambushed and exchanged gunfire with a group of smugglers in Raas Al Maarra, Yabroud area, near the Syrian-Lebanese border in Rural Damascus, thwarting the latter's attempt to smuggle a shipment of 15,000 narcotic pills and 500 kilograms of hashish. Casualties unknown.
