RPG event in Diffa, Niger on Tue 10th February 2026

On 10 February 2026, in the early afternoon, the MPLJ clashed with the Nigerien army in the oil extraction site of Djibeilla, coded to Doubela (N'Gourti, Diffa), a close populated center in the area. MPLJ claimed that the clashes resulted in the death of at least 24 Nigerien soldiers and 1 MPLJ militant, the injury of three MPLJ militants, the destruction of three army vehicles as well as the substantial damage oil extraction infrastructures. The Nigerien army claimed to have repelled the attack, forcing the MPLJ to withdraw and causing the death of an unspecified number of MPLJ militants as well as the seizure of three assault rifles, RPGs and one vehicle. Other sources mentioned that several dozens of MPLJ militants died in the clashes. Unspecified fatalities coded as 12, as per the most reliable source.
