Two anti-regime armed groups clashed in the resistance stronghold of Pale Township, Sagaing Region on Tuesday morning as People’s Defense Force (PDF) troops under the command of the civilian National Unity Government (NUG) raided bases of the Burma National Revolutionary Army (BNRA), locals said.
The PDF raids came a few days after BNRA troops shot dead a member of Yinmabin District PDF Battalion 4 under the command of the NUG’s Ministry of Defense (MOD). The BNRA said on Sunday its troops shot and killed the PDF fighter when an argument broke out after the victim declined to return a weapon he had been issued while a member of the Myanmar Royal Dragon Army (MRDA), the BNRA’s predecessor organization.
The BNRA said it took full responsibility for the shooting.
