On 9 February 2026, in Tunapuna, Tunapuna Piarco, overnight, two armed men carrying a high-powered rifles opened fire on two police officers on patrol along Maingot and Fairley streets. The officers shot back, engaging in a clash with the armed suspects. One officer and a civilian were injured. The officer also got his leg broken. Two men involved in the attack turned themselves in on 11 February. 2 injured.
