On 9 February 2026, SPLM/A-IO forces targeted an SSPDF checkpoint in Bazungua Boma, 3km northwest of Yambio airstrip, Yambio Town Payam (Yambio County, Western Equatoria State), resulting in at least 2 to 4 fatalities, including a police officer and his child. At least 14 houses and a truck were burned and an unspecified number of people were displaced. Security forces were deployed to the area and normalcy resumed.
