On 9 February 2026, cattle raiders from the Mundari community (coded as Mundari ethnic militia) clashed with SSPDF forces in the Atende area of Yei Town Payam (location coded to Yei, the nearest known location in Yei County, Central Equatoria State), resulting in 2 fatalities. The clash ensued after the Mundari members raided several thousand cattle belonging to a senior SPLM official, before the SSPDF pursued them. The cattle were recovered.
