On 9 February 2026, Nigerian troops clashed with suspected ISWAP fighters while repelling their attack on a primary School in Ngamma, also spelled Nganawa (Yunusari, Yobe). The militia had invaded the school and attempted to loot the zinc-coated roofing sheets when the troops engaged them in a firefight. A stray bullet hit and injured 1 civilian. There were no fatalities.
