A young man was seriously injured in a landmine explosion that took place in Ann locality of Rakhine State, where once the western military command (WMC) was located prior to the Arakan Army’s  capture and control.

The victim has been identified  as Maung Nyaung Kyaw (15) hailing from Kan Kaw Yeik (Mee Laung Chaung) village under Ann township.

He was clearing  grasses at a cashew field in the east of their village on 13 February at around 11:30 am when he accidentally cut an unexploded landmine with a knife, causing its explosion.
