Projectile event in Amhara, Ethiopia on Sun 8th February 2026

On 8 February 2026, for the second day, ENDF, Amhara regional riot police, and Kebele militia clashed with Fano (AFNM) in Mengist (Kewet, North Shewa, Amhara), leading to the killings of many forces on both sides. The state security forces mobilized from Kobo, Tere, and Wekfile Kebeles began the clash to control the movement of Fano forces. Fano responded with counter-offensive strikes, and it accused the state security forces of using heavy artillery during the clash, which hit civilian residential houses and caused the killing of civilians. Unspecified number of fatalities coded as 10, split across the three dates, and coded as 3 for this event.
