On 7 February 2026, members of the 'White Army' (Nuer ethnic militia), alongside SPLM/A-IO members, from the directions of Nyokrial and Nyok-Kuac, attacked an SSPDF position, resulting in a clash in Baliet Town, 52 km north-east of Malakal (Baliet, Upper Nile). The incident resulted in at least 15 fatalities, including an SSPDF soldier, while Baliet County Commissioner Joseph Deng Anguei claimed that around 300 opposition members were killed. The residents had been evacuated ahead of the attack. 1 source claimed 151 confirmed opposition fatalities, attributing the high number to most of the 'White Army' only armed with rudimentary weapons such as spears, pangas, bows and arrows. 166 fatalities (15 locals and an SSPDF soldier + 151 opposition members) coded for this event.
