On 5 February 2026, in Thit Say Kone (North) village (Taze township, Shwebo district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military conducted an airstrike on the Mingalar monastery around 10:00 am. The airstrike killed five people including a novice monk, three women and a man nearby and injured 3 people. Khit Thit Media reported the airstrike killed 7 people and the Shwe Phee Myay News Agency reported that the airstrike killed 6 people, while Democratic Voice of Burma, Myanmar Now, Myanmar Pressphoto Agency and Assistance Association for Political Prisoners reported that 5 people were killed. Fatalities coded as 5, using the lowest estimates. 5 fatalities.
