On 4 February 2026, in the afternoon, the Burkinabe special forces from the Rapid Intervention Battalion 16 (BIR 16), escorting a food convoy, struck several IEDs in the village of Gaskinde (Pobe-Mengao, Soum, Sahel). JNIM claimed to have targeted a Burkinabe army convoy with three IEDs near Djibo. JNIM published photographs of the scene showing the remains of the vehicle. The attack resulted in casualties among the army. Unspecified fatalities coded as 3.
