UAV event in Mopti, Mali on Wed 4th February 2026

On 4 February 2026, in the morning, JNIM militants attacked a position of Dan Ambassagou militia between Dounali and Dongossori, coded to Dounali (Kendie, Bandiagara, Mopti). The militants attacked the same position again in the afternoon. During the attacks, the militants launched kamikaze drones (likely IED rigged drones) on the militia base. Approximately 10 militia members were killed, and their base was set on fire. Other sources stated that 5 militia members were killed and 4 were injured. JNIM claimed to have attacked and taken control of a militia position near Kendie. In a separate statement, JNIM announced it killed 5 militia members and seized several machine guns and hunting rifles. JNIM released photographs depicting the scene with the seized items and the body of a killed militia member. 5 fatalities coded as per the lowest estimate available.
