RPG event in Tillaberi, Niger on Wed 4th February 2026

On 4 February 2026, in the evening, JNIM claimed to have assaulted and temporarily taken control of a position of the Nigerien army in Makalondi (Torodi, Tillaberi), precising to have killed 3 soldiers and looted five military vehicles as well as five 12.7 heavy machine guns, two PKM machine guns and type-69 RPG launchers, 60mm mortar launchers, other equipment and ammunition. The Nigerien army admitted the attack, claiming that the attack was repelled and that the Nigerien air force launched drone strikes against militants motorcycles, resulting in the death of around 20 militants, 3 soldiers, the injury of other soldiers as well as the destruction of around twelve motorcycles. Other sources claimed the death of 36 soldiers. Undisclosed Sources mentioned the death of around 15 soldiers, while other twenty-four went missing during the attack. 15 fatalities coded as reported bt the most reliable and accurate source.
