On 3 February 2026, the Malian army claimed to have conducted airstrikes against approximately 10 armed militants (likely JNIM, based on location), gathered around three concealed vehicles in Foita (Tilemsi, Goundam, Tombouctou), a village in Mali near the Mauritania border. The militants were neutralized (meaning killed) et the vehicles were destroyed. FLA sources stated that the drone strikes targeted a civilian transport vehicle that was traveling from a weekly market in Fassala (Mauritania) to an IDP camp located in Ziguini, near the Mauritanian border. Five to six passengers were injured in the incident, and one of them later died from injuries. 1 fatality coded as per the lowest estimate available.
