On 3 February 2026, in Iguala, Lempira, National Police anti-drug units from the National Directorate for the Prevention of Drug Trafficking (DNPA), the Police Intelligence Directorate (DIPOL), and the National Directorate for Community Preventive Services (DNPSC) clashed with unidentified armed men. Police detected four motorcycles whose riders opened fire upon noticing the authorities. After several minutes of exchanging gunfire, police repelled the attack and arrested two men. There were no casualties.
