On 2 February 2026, in the morning, ISSP claimed to have assaulted and temporarily took control of the position of the Nigerien Gendarmerie in Ayorou (Ayerou, Tillaberi), killing at least 3 gendarmes. The group also claimed to have looted two military vehicles, as well as burned down the gendarmerie position and another military vehicle. Other sources confirmed the assault, mentioning that the group attacked a position of the Nigerien National Guard, killing 5 national guards and injuring four others. 3 fatalities coded as per the lowest estimate available.
