On 2 February 2026, ENDF, the Oromia Regional State Police, and Kebele Militias launched a joint military operation against an unspecified armed group (likely OLF-OLA, given their active presence in the area) at an unspecified location in Kuyu (coded to the admin center, Gebre Guracha, North Shewa, Oromia) and in Wara Jarso, Degem, Hidebu Abote, Dera, and Yaya Gulele (coded separately). The government fully cut communication networks, including the internet, voice calls, and SMS, across these districts. Casualties unknown.
